From almost losing her children to the system to completely losing her dignity, self-worth, self-respect, and almost her life — Felicia tells her story of God bringing her out of a “dark place,” a destructive lifestyle, family dysfunction, and 5 years of addiction, into 27 years of sobriety and a life that is fulfilling, stable, and rewarding.

From Darkness to Destiny is an autobiographical masterpiece that chronicles the life of Felicia’s gut-wrenching yet inspirational story of how she overcame some of the most difficult trials life had to offer. She grew up the middle child and the typical “black sheep” of the family. Her role as a “Preacher’s daughter” was not the picture of the perfect little angel, but the complete opposite! Her energetic, rambunctious childhood was nothing short of thrilling and full of risk-taking adventures. This daughter-of-a-preacher turned prodigal fought to escape the heartbreak brought on by her parent’s divorce. While trying to cope through this breakup, along with the separation of her siblings, Felicia found herself looking for love in all the wrong places.
Her passion for people catapulted her into a career in the helping field. As she coped with her own struggles, her desire never faded and was magnified even more as she found herself climbing back on top. Felicia graduated with honors from the University of Missouri St. Louis with a Master of Social Work degree after receiving an Undergraduate degree in Psychology. During her academic career she received several prestigious awards. She remained on the Dean’s List, was a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated Cum Laude — all while juggling the responsibilities of a single mother. During the time of exploring a career in cosmetology, she also earned Class Valedictorian Beauty at Elaine Stevens Beauty College.
She is currently a passionate, teacher working with at-risk youth in an Alternative Education setting. Her goal is simple: to get to them before the streets do!
